The Stockholm-based fragrance house Byredo have released four limited edition candles: Bibliothèque, Cotton Poplin, Fleur Fantôme and Burning Rose. The latter comes in white wax with a limited edition collector's packaging 'XO' and a custom hand-painted glass. The other three candles are existing fragrances from the permanent line, but are presented in limited edition hand blown glass with black and white striped decoration by Swedish art director Conny Hedman and Byredo's signature black wax. Only 500 of each candle has been made! [See what they look like at the Byredo site]
Burning Rose is my very first candle from the brand whose Bal d'Afrique Eau de Parfum (featured here) has been my favourite winter scent for the last couple of years. I've been meaning to try their candles for a while and when this came out, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous, coloured glass! I figured it was time. :) This is definitely one to keep, re-purpose and display at home once the candle is finished.
Packaging
The box comes wrapped up beautifully in thick, crisp white paper with the black 'XO' graphic - in line with the brand's signature monochromatic design. I have re-wrapped the empty box using this paper and display it in my creative/office space at home. It looks pretty cool. ^_^

Overall
With only a single wick, it burns very slowly. Having said that, you wouldn't want to burn it too quickly, especially since it's one of the most pricey candles around! It does take about four hours for the entire layer of wax to melt from the wick/centre to the glass, and that's about the latest time you should blow it out so that the wax cools back to an even level and you get the most out of your candle. It has an excellent throw and for a single wick, is suitable for scenting up to two small rooms or one large one, or in the hallway where it can give a gorgeous, welcoming experience for visitors or your loved ones. My husband came home from work and immediately was taken by the scent exclaiming "it smells like I'm in Hyde Park...very classy!". I don't know what Hyde Park smells like, but he just meant he smelled like he was somewhere very posh. ;) The overall fragrance it gives is relaxing and mellow and it permeates effectively throughout the space in a non-overpowering way. In short, we both enjoy 'Burning Rose' very much indeed. ^_^
Hope this was helpful. :)
Thanks for stopping by. ^_^ xo
