About

Chanel says:

"Inspired by the passion for freedom of Gabrielle Chanel, the CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio has designed LES BEIGES, a new spirit of makeup that is simple and intuitive. Free like a breath of fresh air. Spontaneous like the perfect getaway. Enveloping like a caress of light.

LES BEIGES reveal the healthy glow of each woman and provide a sensation of lightness, well-being and freshness.

All year round, LES BEIGES compact powder gives your skin the fresh, pure radiance of days spent outdoors.

Each woman’s intuition guides the brush as it sweeps sweeps across the face to create a personalised makeup result intensified with each sweep of the brush. healthy glow that is more or less intense. Its five luminous and natural shades reveal a sheer, healthy dazzling glow.

The fine, lightweight and antioxidant powder shields the skin from environmental stress and sunlight thanks to its SPF 15 / PA++ sun filter. Its ultra-protective formula, enriched with cotton flower and white rose plant cells, becomes one with the skin to soothe it better. It is gentle on all skin types, even the most sensitive.

The Healthy Glow Sheer Powder also features the iconic CHANEL compact case, dressed for the first time in beige, the timeless and exclusive beige that Gabrielle Chanel loved so much. Its big mirror, with a larger inclination angle, and its half-moon powder brush made of 100% natural bristles hair make for an easier application. even easier."

How To Use

Chanel says:

"Delicately take Take the powder with the half-moon brush for a light, sheer finish. Apply to the entire face, working from the middle outwards with large sweeping movements. To sculpt or define the face, use the tip of the half-moon powder brush on cheekbones, the upper forehead, the chin or on the bridge of the nose.

Wear the powder on its own for a naturally enhanced complexion or over foundation for an extra touches of radiance.

Choose a tone-on-tone shade, based on your skin tone, or a slightly more intense shade for a sun-kissed effect."

For a heavier application, I recommend using a dense, Kabuki brush like the latest Chanel Les Beiges Retractable Kabuki Brush. The small brush head provides precise application - for instance, if you wish to contour under the cheeks. Its round shape easily does much of the work of blending the product and any edges seamlessly into the skin for a natural finish. The brush is used by buffing in small circular motions. I'm equally impressed with this new brush from Chanel. I own a Hakuhodo kabukibrush, called Kaede Kinoko White-L (featured in my IMATS 2012 haul post) which is larger in size and is very soft, but the Chanel's is surprisingly even softer again! It is also more dense. It's a brush worth investing in if you use Les Beiges and other powder / mineral powder foundations. Not only does its softness make it a pleasure to use, it also helps particularly those with dry skin to avoid any dead, dry skin from being aggravated and lifted - leaving an unwanted flaky appearance.

I will post more photos of Les Beiges Retractable Kabuki Brush and a comparison photo with the aforementioned Hakuhodo kabuki brush in my next blog post (very soon!).

The difference is very subtle in the photograph, but hopefully you can see the skin tone is slightly darker and appears more even on the right-hand side. :)

Scent
Les Beiges has a fresh perfumed scent that is the same as the Chanel Hydramax + Active Serum (older version that I have anyway) or the Chanel Perfection Lumiere liquid foundation.  It is only noticeable in the pan and when you first apply it, but disappears soon afterwards.

Size
12 g / 0.42 oz of powder product.

My Thoughts
I can plainly say that this is definitely one of my most favourite product of the year so far. It is gives the most natural looking tan to the skin if you choose a shade or two darker than your skin tone. Shade No.40 is about 1 or 2 shades darker than my natural skin tone during winter, but will appear more like my natural skin tone for summer. I am keen to try No.30 for a more natural finish that matches my skin tone for winter. For reference, my skin tone during winter is NC30 or use Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (liquid form) in Beige 30. Les Beiges is also great to use to help correct depth of colour in the most natural way should you wear a foundation that is lighter than your natural skin tone by applying a light veil over the face as a finishing touch.

Choosing a shade or two darker will give a very natural, fairly neutral, even tan. As if it were your own skin. The shade is warming to the skin but is still fairly neutral.  There's no ashiness, orange, redness, pinkness, peachiness or too much warmth, so it doesn't give the appearance that you have just been in the sun or have the slightest sun-burn. Instead, it looks as if it were a gradual, healthy tan. I think shade No.40 is the perfect shade for my naturally olive skin tone with strong yellow undertone in the winter to maintain my summer tan.

The powder is sheer, but by no means lacks depth of colour if you choose a darker shade than your natural skin tone.  It is sheer in a sense that it will be impossible for anyone to apply too much of this product all at once.  That's what I love about most of the Chanel powder products.

The product is ultra, ultra finely milled, lightweight and silky smooth.  Overall, Les Beiges gives a velvety finish with a barely there sheen that gives the appearance that the skin has a natural luminosity.  In the pan, you can see very subtle light-reflecting particles, but is not visible in the same way at all when applied on the skin.  Instead, there is the subtlest glow as you turn your head at an angle, but it looks as if it is coming from your own skin rather than product that is sitting on top of your skin!  Ah-mazing.  My skin definitely looks healthy when I wear this.

Chanel have truly impressed me with Les Beiges. You can't get any more naturally beautiful than what this new product gives you. It makes me excited to embrace the natural me when I wear this and I feel confident.

Overall
Flawless and exceptional. Les Beiges is in a class of its own.  I'm afraid I won't be able to live without this now that it is in my life.  It's a must.
