Chanel have released their Rouge Coco lipsticks in 24 new shades and with a new formula - labelled as "Rouge Coco - Ultra Hydrating Lip Color" (compared with the original range, which are labelled "Rouge Coco - Hydrating Crème Lip Colour"). The shades are inspired by the close friends of Mademoiselle Chanel.
In this post, I'll be sharing swatches of my current one pick so far in "Jean" (454) - a shade that's so typically me - purple pink! >_< Yes, that's right...I just can't get enough of this type of lipstick hue. Also, I received a beautiful sample set of the five other shades: Adrienne (402), Coco (416), Roussy (426), Arthur (440) and Emilienne (452), so swatches of these are down below. :) I've purchased a lot of lipsticks over recent weeks from various spring collections so I've had to restrict myself with this range! However, I have a feeling I will purchase more...Adrienne turns out to be a beautiful, wearable nude shade on my skin tone (which doesn't happen often!), so that's most likely to be next on my list. ;)
Jean (454)
The swatches of Jean below were applied straight from the bullet of the lipstick. For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone, and all photographed indoors under artificial lighting using a strobe.
Below: comparison swatches of Jean with Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color in Hot Plum (also featured here) and Tom Ford Lip Color (from the Lips & Boys collection) in Pablo (reviewed here). As you can see, Jean is a tad deeper and not as bright as the other two.
Adrienne (402), Coco (416), Roussy (426), Arthur (440) & Emilienne (452)
The swatches below were applied with the mini lip brush provided with the samples.
On My Lips
Please excuse the much lower quality in the lip swatches above. They were taken using my phone camera (the white balance is not quite right), but should give you some an idea of what the colours and the shiny finish look like. Note, I have naturally pigmented, blue-toned lips which can also affect the way the shades look on me.
Formula, Pigmentation & Feel
I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying the new formula of these! ^_^ They're lightweight, utterly juicy, feel amazingly nourishing and comforting on the lips. There's a slight translucency to them like a gel formula. They give a beautiful, smooth and shiny finish - making your lips look plump and luscious. I find them very moorish in that it's a real pleasure (bordering on addictive) to apply and keep reapplying these throughout the day. Despite the slight translucency, they do deliver great pigment - more so when applied with a lip brush.
"The combination of three vegetable waxes − mimosa, jojoba and sunflower − hydrates, nourishes the lips and ensures immediate and lasting comfort.A silicone wax delivers a new sensory experience. Softer and more melt-away, gliding on more easily for an immediate sensation of fusion with the lips.A new polymer film and silicone microbeads encourage lasting hold and boosted shine."
Verdict
I think these would be my new favourite lipsticks from Chanel as they are just so comfortable and luscious on the lips! If you love purple pink lipsticks like I do, then Jean is a must-have - particularly if you have olive skin. Such a hue just gives immediate life to the complexion and it's very flattering. With so many shades to choose from there's bound to be one or two...or more for everyone! Good luck choosing! >_<
