Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio Palette is one of several limited edition Christmas gift sets this year. The palette is part of their new "Fantascene"collection, which is the result of a collaboration with the iconic fashion photographer, Steven Klein.
Below is the product label that has all the names of each item in the palette, which is pretty handy as there have been previous Nars palettes that didn't have this on the palette itself!
The palette contains:
Top left - Paloma Contour Blush Duo: "Pink beige and deep rose"
Top right - Laguna Bronzing Powder
Bottom L - R - Robotic, Blasphemy, Luster and Dolce Vita blushes.
Below are swatches using a clean finger (without primer) and are applied on my medium, olive (~NC30-35) skin tone. Photographed indoors using a strobe.
As much as I sometimes don't like palettes that contain permanent shades in them and this often is the case with Nars - especially the same shades being used repeatedly such as their Laguna bronzing powder and Dolce Vita blush...I couldn't resist this one! >_< First of all, it's nice to have the photographer's work displayed on the actual palette itself, and it has a couple of new blush shades that are exclusive to the palette as well as the contour blush duo, which is new to me. Laguna and Dolce Vita - although permanent, are actually great staples to have (which is why they are among Nars' most popular products). Luster is also fairly popular, which I do already own and I've only recently just rediscovered and formed a growing love for (I always found it too orange for my liking so I've hardly worn it in the past).
Overall
A great gift for makeup lovers - old and new to Nars. It's great value and convenient to travel with as it has all the face colour powder products you would need for various looks. All the powders are soft and silky, very pigmented and applied beautifully on the skin. Last, but not least, the Steven Klein photograph is a collector's piece in itself!
