BY TERRY CRAYON KHOL TERRIBLY IN 'OPALINE FLASH' (6)

'Opaline Flash'  was released last year as part of the Holiday 2012 collection.  It's a bright, frosty pale pink.  It appears as bright as a 'flash' alright!  It's great for brightening the inner corners of the eyes to make them look wide-eyed.  Very fair-skinned beauties can appreciate this for lining the lower rim of the eyes to brighten and open up the eyes even more.  I only recommend this for medium, olive (like me) to darker skin tones when used very sparingly to brighten the inner corners of the eyes and ensuring they blend out well with the warm tips of fingers.  However, I can get away with it when applied as thinly as possible just on the root of the lower lashes, and by the time I've applied my mascara on both upper and lower lashes, my eyes look lovely and fresh.  Unless you have very pale skin, I would not recommend applying it any lower than the lash line due to the stark contrast it imparts.  Note, I don't ever wear any eye liner on my inner rims of my eyes as I'm extremely sensitive in that area, but I suspect it would look lovely for those who like applying it there, and if applied very sparingly and closer to the lash line.

The pink hue is pale enough that it brightens the eye rather than making it look pink and sickly.  The frosty finish helps to reflect light and therefore, helps illuminate the eye area.

Although khol pencils are generally quite soft, this one is probably the softest khol pencil I've encountered.  So much so, it has a rather creamy and emollient texture that for me, makes it quite tricky to apply a fine line with.  I've tried applying directly from the pencil as you would normally with all other eye liners and then having to wipe excess off to give a fine line.  This is too much work for me, so I will have to try other methods - perhaps putting the product onto a thin, angled eye liner brush and applying it with the brush.

I also like to use this as a base or on its own on my mobile lids as a cream eye shadow, because of its cream-like texture.  You have to work fairly quickly though when blending as it does set fairly quickly. Once it sets, it doesn't come off!  It's a long-wearing, waterproof formula.
The pencil comes with a sharpener, so unfortunately it will mean you waste a little product each time you sharpen. /:-\

Comparison Swatches
I've compared 'Opaline Flash' with By Terry's Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow Pencil in 'Frozen Quartz'.  For reference, the swatches were applied on my medium, olive, ~NC30 skin tone.  These were photographed under artificial lighting and using a strobe.

Verdict
This product is OK for me.  It's a pretty colour, but I think those with fair skins will appreciate it more.  Also, for the high price point I wish it lived up to it's claim of 'precision' application.  I just found the pencil too soft and creamy to be able to apply precisely.  At least I can still make the most of this texture by doubling its use as a cream eye shadow.

Hope this was useful.

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
