The new Chanel Joues Contraste (Powder Blush) in 'Frivole' (76) for Spring 2013 is a unique addition to my personal blush collection. I'm usually wary of orange hues for the cheeks, but at the same time, yearning for something a little different to my usual array of pink blushes. After purchasing online, sight-unseen (besides the few swatches I'd seen online), I loved it the moment I opened the compact. I loved it even more when applied to the cheeks. What a beautiful brightness of colour and life to the cheeks it brings!

Colour, Pigmentation & Texture
'Frivole' is described as a "luminous apricot" (medium orange with the slightest hint of pink). When swatched, it surprisingly appears brighter and not as deep as it appears in the pan. It's vibrant and while it mostly appears to have a matte finish on the skin, in the pan, the subtlest shimmers can be seen, which gives the slightest luminosity to the cheeks. It has excellent colour pay-off. Its silky smooth, finely milled powder texture make it effortless to blend and build intensity with depending on your preference and the depth of your skin tone.

Comparative Swatches
Even though the photograph below Le Metier de Beaute's first (top) blush in the Blush Kaleidoscope Kit looks fairly close, LMdB is actually deeper and has a more pink/red undertone in person. Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Espiegle' is very much paler, leans more peachy pink with a white base and has a lot of shimmers in it.

Bottom Line
My heart sings whenever I apply this little beauty onto my cheeks. ^_^ Oh joy! Don't be afraid, don't hesitate - definitely give this a whirl. Like, now.
Hope this helps!
