NARS CINEMATIC LIPSTICKS IN 'FULL FRONTAL' AND 'LAST TANGO'

Above: Cinematic Lipstick packaging is the same as the permanent Nars Lipstick range.

'Full Frontal' and 'Last Tango' are two of five new limited edition lipsticks released as part of the Nars Guy Bourdin Fall/Autumn 2013 Collection.  These are their new Cinematic Lipsticks, which have a new formulation that delivers full coverage and luminous shine, and contain Monoï butter and Vitamin E for a comfortable feel and help nourish the lips.

Full Frontal Cinematic Lipstick
Full Frontal is an edgy, very cool-toned, rose violet.  Unfortunately, this colour was not as bright and vivid as I'd hoped.  It was a little more subdued and is a little too cool-toned for my skin tone. :(  My lips are already naturally blue-toned, so applying this over-top just further enhanced the blue undertone of it even more.  I recommend trying this out on your lips first before buying as some like myself may find it harder to pull-off.  I wish it were a touch brighter and more pink.  For now, I'll have to layer it with another lipstick/lipgloss o make it more wearable.
Last Tango Cinematic Lipstick
Last Tango is a dusty, rose nude.  It can lean a touch pinker and warmer on those with naturally paler / pink-toned lips and cooler on blue-toned, pigmented lips.  This is a pretty nude, but is perhaps a touch lighter than what I'd like for my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and naturally blue-toned, pigmented lips.  On me, it pretty much erases my lips out and although has a tinge of rose pink showing through, it is cool toned.  I need to ensure my make-up look is "top heavy" - i.e., a lot of definition in the eyes - smokey eye look or similar - in order to make this lipstick colour work for me personally.  Others with pale to medium skin tones with lighter lips will be able to pull this off without a problem.  Lucky you. ;)
Swatches
Swatched on medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and photographed indoors using a strobe.
Just for reference, I compared Nars Last Tango to Tom Ford Casablanca. They're both 'nude' type lipsticks, but Casablanca is more of a medium to deep, red/plum-toned rose.  The closest lipstick I have to Nars Full Frontal is YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 'Fuchsia in Rage', but I personally find the latter more wearable as it is a touch brighter and more vivid.  It brings more life to my sallow skin tone (it's one of my favourite, bright lipsticks!).
Overall
In hindsight, I would have given these two shades a miss had I had tried these on my lips first.  So, I recommend trying them out in store first and seeing how it looks in natural light.  They might work for you.  I do like the new cinematic lipstick formula though.  It feels light, comfortable and moisturising without too much slip or glossiness.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for visiting! ^_^ xo
