Welcome lepooch, by the way, who was also keen to see what lies inside the bag he's been sniffing. |
My new-found beauty blogger friend, Dr. Ebru of Chic Science was very thoughtful in tagging me to do a post on what's in my makeup bag. To see what's in hers, please click here. :) Anyway, thanks so much! Here goes...

I use my trusty Dior beauty pouch I received from a GWP some time ago (you can read about it here if you like). I love it coz it has structure when it is filled and it has two zipped meshed compartments that I can easily see what's inside. The pouch folds a couple of times to close and secured together with magnetic buttons.
Here's what's in the first compartment...
Here's what's in the first compartment...

- Paul & Joe Blotting Papers - while I my go-to 'holy grail' blotting paper is Tatcha Aburatorigami Blotting Papers, I like to keep the Paul & Joe one in my makeup bag as it's much smaller and compact in size. Small enough to fit in your pocket, plus I do love the pretty, floral packaging.
- Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in 'Raffinement' (#39) - a new addition to Chanel's permanent line from this year's spring collection. A beautiful, set of neutrals with nuances of plum hues. It contains a "rich mauve, pearly pink beige, shimmering lilac, and deep eggplant".
- Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder - a limited edition, also from this year's spring collection gives a subtle luminosity to the skin with it's delicate mix of pale beige, hint of pink hue subtle golden sheen. Very pretty and fool-proof to apply.
- Chanel Eye Lash Curler - one of my top, go-to eye lash curlers that is on par with the Shu Uemura eye lash curler. I love the fact that it is black and very lightweight. To see a comprehensive, comparative review of this with other eye lash curlers, please click here.
- Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 'Transparent' (#001) - this is a favourite of makeup artist and You Tube beauty guru Tanya Burr, so I just had to try and it's cheap! It does the job. I only wish the lid was attached to the base and is more secure.
- Mac Satin Powder Blush in 'Taupe Shape' - from this year's "Strength Collection". I've been wearing this almost everyday for contouring since I purchased it about a month ago. So easy to use and it's a great shade for contouring for those with light to medium skin tones. To see swatches, click here.
- Bobbi Brown Powder Blush in 'Pale Pink' (#9) - the most long-lasting blush I've every come across. It applies true to the colour it appears in the pan even on my current summer, olive tanned skin. It instantly perks my otherwise, dull, greenish skin and I don't need to reapply ever during the day. It's compact size make it convenient for travel. It's another of my top favourites for a blue-toned pink blush and has featured in my top 2012 products post and favourites post.
Now, in the second compartment I have...
- Le Métier de Beauté True Colour (Single) Eye Shadow in 'Corinthian' - somehow I neglected this little beauty since I purchased it during my beauty shopping spree last June(!!). I do have a number of taupe eye shadows and only since I started using it just recently that I realised how beautiful a taupe it is. I'll try to do a review of it soon as I think it deserves one. :)
- Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in 'Porcelain' (No.03) - gorgeous base/highlight colour that imparts a bit of that beautiful, classic Burberry sheen.
- Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in 'Trench' (No.02) - this one needs no introduction. I raved on about it here, plus the fact that I've hit pan on it says a lot.
- Becca Anti-Bacterial Pencil Sharpener (Slim) - trusty pencil sharpener with a convenient catchment for pencil shavings and the metal blade is treated with a "special silver and zinc based anti-bacterial additive to sanitize pencils with every twist" (effective for 2 years after first use). It also has a mechanism to either sharpen pencils to a sharp pointed end or a rounded end. It's pretty cool. A lot of thought has gone into what normally would be a simple tool - that's one of the reasons I love Becca! ^_^
- Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara (Sample size) - the latest mascara to come out of Dior. I love the curved brush. I love the way the bristles really grabs every lash and lifts them up to create a good curl. If I didn't have so many mascaras I still need to go through I would buy the full size of this ASAP.
- Fairy Drops Scandal Queen Mascara - love the incredible length this gives my lashes due to the fibres in the waterproof mascara. It also gives a pretty good curl on my otherwise dead-straight lashes. It doesn't give a lot of volume though.
- Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch in shade 'Light Sand' (3.5) - a decent under-eye concealer that feels moisturising. It blends easily and fairly seamlessly into the skin and can also be used to conceal imperfections in other areas of the face.
- Becca Eye Priming Perfector - one of Becca's new product ranges. It actually works really well and is way better than my previous go-to eye primer from Nars (Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base). The eye shadow colour appears much more brilliant using the Becca Eye Priming Perfector. It also has a neutral colour that blends well with my olive, NC30 skin tone, so I could happily wear this on its own to brighten and even out the skin tone of my eye area. The best of its kind by far and what I think a real eye primer should be all-round! :) *applauds*
- Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer in 'Ocher' - no wonder this has received great reviews amongst consumers. I love everything about this (except for the e
xorbitantly high price point). - Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in 'Tamarack' - a creamy, complex, gorgeous brown eye pencil that's been a staple in my makeup bag (see it on my top makeup products of 2012 and my favourites post).
- Chanel Precision Eye Definer in 'Bleu Aérien' - from last year's 'Blue Illusion de Chanel' collection. You know I love blue! ^_^ On paper and in the pencil itself, it appears a deep, yet vivid almost royal blue, but when applied on the skin, it looks like an indigo blue. I love this when I want to have a little bit of colour to my eye look, but still keeping it 'safe', and is an alternative to blue mascara. For photos and swatches, click here.
- Last, but not least, I have in my makeup bag, the Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in 'Noir Intense'. The blackest, most pigmented eye liner I own and is my staple black eyeliner. I've mentioned it in my favourites and top 2012 product post.
You may wonder why no lip products appear in here, it's basically because I keep those in my pocket and/or pockets of my hand bags for easier access and also because I change those up the most and often carry several to choose from! I also keep makeup brushes in a separate brush case - I use Hakuhodo. It's featured here.
Well, I hope this was an interesting read. I had fun doing this post, especially since I get to share a lot of my staples and favourites that almost have a regular place in my makeup bag.
I now tag Delicate Hummingbird (she hasn't posted in a long time, so I hope this tag may encourage her! ;) ), Miss J Shopaholic, Beauty In The Sky, Miss Kitty Charms, and any of you who wants to do a 'What's in my makeup bag' post! :)
Thanks for visiting! ^_^ xo
