Here are some of my new beauty purchases during VFNO in Sydney as well as some new arrivals from an online shopping spree. ^_^
// YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats Lipsticks (from the Autumn 2014 collection) in 'Rose Perfecto' (207) and Fuchsia Fétiche (208). Haven't seen reviews and swatches of these two when I considered buying them, but they look pretty in the tubes. It's my first to try YSL's matte formula.
// Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 'Nude Dip' (03) for Autumn 2014. This has been all the rage recently amongst fellow makeup enthusiasts and beauty bloggers, so I'm very excited to join in - hopefully I will be raving about it, too. ;)
// Tom Ford Correcting Pen in 'Medium'(02). It's a dual-ended concealer pen (one with a thicker, slightly salmon-toned pencil) and the other has a very, thin, sharp, pointed tip for more precise concealing. Can't wait to see how this performs for covering any tiny dark spots.
// Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 'Cuir Cannage' (796). Yay! Been waiting to get my hands on this since it's been available at all my local counters!
// Bourjois Universal Illuminating Java Rice Powder. Packaged in vintage style that's reminiscent of the original packaging to celebrate their 150th anniversary. I've been eyeing this revived version for quite some time, but it had sold out and was difficult to get. Fortunately, I found it at Selfridges. ;) My lovely husband had purchased the original (well, we hope), vintage Bourjois Powder container for me as a gift a couple or so years ago when he came across it online. I just enjoy looking at it, but I shall do a post on that packaging compared to the new one with a review of the product itself (in the near future). :)
// Burberry Lip Mist in 'Feather Pink' (No. 209). Three years on, many other lipsticks later and I must say this is still my all-time favourite every day lipstick! Hence, why this is probably the only lipstick I have finished and actually repurchased. (Apart from my fave red shade - Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick in #18 - which I have purchased backups of as I had heard it was going to be discontinued! :( Not finished a tube of it though as I don't wear red lipstick as often). 'Feather Pink' is a beautiful colour, moisturising formula with an almost glossy finish. You can read all about my rave and see swatches HERE.
// Chanel Les Temps Essentiels/Resynchronizing Skincare in a travel set (3 x 15 ml / 0.5 fl. oz). This is a three-step skin care system that includes:
- Le Jour de Chanel (salicylic-based, "reactivating" skin care product applied in the weekday mornings to "minimise the appearance of pores and smoothes the skin").
- La Nuit de Chanel (hyaluronic acid-based, "recharging", weeknight face care to "sooth and calm the skin" and "awaken with a supple plump skin"), and
- Le Weekend de Chanel (glycolic acid-based "renewing" or chemically exfoliating skin care product that's used morning and night on the weekends).
I must say, I would never have purchased this set had it not been for the brilliant sales work at the Chanel counter and amazing full facial massage and skin care application. I was wary of investing in the full-sized versions just in case it didn't work out for me, but this travel-sized combo is a perfect way to give the products a good go over a decent period without forking out a lot of money in the first instance. I did notice at the counter that makeup went on a lot more smoothly on top of the products with minimised appearance of pores. Also, when I woke up the next day, my skin looked absolutely fabulous - as if I had already done my makeup base and perfected my skin, except I hadn't! My face looked fresh, smooth, even and just plain lovely! All that in just a single application?! It does seem promising indeed, but all will be confirmed after I've used the products for a longer period.
// Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush. This is new and the first loose powder foundation from Chanel. I was very impressed when the SA tried this on me in store. I think I'm going to love this! :) Seeing as spring is here and summer is approaching, I purchased it in a shade darker (No.40). The official launch of this product in Australia is actually tomorrow (Sept 7), so do check it out!
// Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 'Rose Glacier' (170) and 'Jersey' (80). Two new, limited edition blushes launched alongside the new loose powder foundation. Both beautiful. Will post a review and swatches of these as soon as possible! :)
// Chanel Nail Colour in 'Sweet Star'. Limited edition, released exclusively for Vogue Fashion's Night Out (VOFN). See swatches and my review of it HERE.
Hope this was interesting. :)
Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
