CHANEL JOUES CONTRASTE IN 'ROSE GLACIER' (170)

Rose Glacier (170) is one of two new, limited edition Chanel Joues Contraste/powder blushes released alongside their new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush (review coming), and a newly repackaged Le Blanc de Chanel Illuminating Base (my current, all-time fave reviewed HERE) that is taller and slimmer and most importantly, now comes with a convenient pump!  The other blush is called Jersey (80) (review also coming).

COLOUR, PIGMENTATION & FINISH
Medium, golden rose pink shade with a slightly cool undertone.  It has decent colour pay-off that can easily be built up in a couple of layers or two depending on how intense you like your blush, or if you have deeper skin tone.  The blush has gold iridescence throughout and this adds a gorgeous, golden glow or luminosity (as opposed to sparkle or glitter) and adds dimension to the face.  It's really a blush and highlighter in one that does not emphasise any large pores, and is appropriate for everyday or evening wear.

SWATCHES
Below is a heavy swatch of Rose Glacier (left) and how it looks with normal application and blended out (right).  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Unless otherwise stated, they are photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.

COMPARISON SWATCHES
Though differing in shade, initially, the golden shimmers in the pink Rose Glacier blush reminded me of those in the peachy pink Nars Orgasm.  However, as you can see in the swatches below, the level of shimmer is way stronger in the latter.  Chanel Joues Contraste in Tumulte is a much paler, cool-toned pink with satin to matte finish compared to Rose Glacier, while Pink Explosion is much more blue-toned with silver sparkles and a touch deeper.

FORMULA, TEXTURE & APPLICATION
Unlike the pressed Joues Contraste powder blush formula released in the USA, this is a baked powder blush formula - typically released in Europe and other countries.  Generally, the baked formulas are a bit drier, harder and less powdery in texture compared to the pressed formulas, but usually can still deliver the same pigmentation and results if you use the provided (or similar), coarser natural brush applicator that allows more product to be picked up and blend the product efficiently.  If you use a softer, finer brush then you may find you need a layer or two more to build colour intensity.  On the upside, it is much more difficult to go overboard or apply too much colour at once. ;)

LONGEVITY
I found the blush to last about eight hours before it started to fade.  After that, it is still visible, but could do with a little touch up.  For reference, I used a primer and I currently have normal to dry skin.  I also walked the dog during a sunny, spring day I wore the blush, wearing one too many layers of clothing, so I worked up a little bit of a sweat.  Not too bad compared to most powder blushes I'd say.

PACKAGING
The blush compact in the signature Chanel black lacquer with a black velvet pouch.
Above: Product description label at the bottom of the compact.

SCENT
Like all Joues Contraste / powder blushes, it has that signature, rose-type scent, which isn't noticeable to me once applied on the cheeks.

FAVE LIP & CHEEK PAIRING + OTHER MAKEUP SELECTIONS
My current favourite lipstick pairing with the Rose Glacier blush is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 'Rendez-vous' (87) swatched HERE and pictured above.  It's a medium pink that also has the same blue/cool undertone as Rose Glacier.  Love these two together! :)  I've also been loving the combination of makeup items pictured above.  You might have seen this if you follow me on Instagram. ;)  I often feature "makeup selections of the day" photos there (as well as other beauty related and non-beauty related stuff) - so do follow if you're interested. ^_^

OVERALL
I'm very happy to find that Rose Glacier is unique in my collection of pink blushes.  I absolutely adore pink blushes (my favourite), and the gold iridescence just adds a beautiful glow.  Overall, Rose Glacier gives a youthfulness and brightness to the complexion.  Will suit most skin tones, but particularly flattering on olive skin as the slight cool undertone really enlivens the face the gold adds dimension and subtle highlight to the cheeks.  So pretty!  Definitely my new love. ^_^

AVAILABILITY
Available now in Australia.  Limited edition, so hurry!  I purchased mine from the Chanel Makeup Studio, Myer Sydney City.
