Ilove holiday gift sets! ^_^  They're now trickling into stores here in Australia.  Here's a couple I picked up from Dior's offerings this year. :)
DIOR HOLIDAY COUTURE COLLECTION
EYE DESIGNER PALETTE
GLOW & SMOKY CONTRAST

While I love the little packaging of this palette, the case has a rubberised kind of texture, which unfortunately means, it can easily attract dirt and dust.  Otherwise, it's cute when kept clean. ;)  Love the gold metal tag and the tassel details.  The palette has a magnetic closure.

Inside the lid is a nice, long mirror.  There's a dual-ended sponge applicator of decent length and high-quality sponge.  A lot of people may choose to use their own brush, but I actually don't mind this one.  It does the job fine for patting on the product to the lid and the smaller sponge end to line the eyes.  However, if I'm doing a smokey eye look, I do need a good blending brush to blend out the darkest shade (second from the left of the palette).  I guess it would have been nice if the palette included a blending brush as well for the price point.  It's convenient not to have to carry your own brushes when you want to deepen the eye look for an evening out straight after work for instance.
The palette consists (from left to right) of:
- Base colour: very pale pink peach (satin).  Contains 1.4 g / 0.04 oz.
- Colour (lid or defining): deep mauve to purple taupe (matte).  Contains 1.6 g / 0.05 oz.  This shade along with the highlighter are what drew me most to this palette.  I love that this shade isn't just a boring, average neutral taupe, and who doesn't love a bit of purple hue.  So gorgeous, rich and very autumnal!
- Highlighter: ultra fine gold and pink shimmers (feels ultra, ultra smooth to the touch and not at all glittery in feel).  Contains 1.4 g / 0.04 oz.  Gives a very pretty wash of twinkle to the eyes.  Perfect for adding a little bling to your smokey eye look for the upcoming Christmas season, or... a wedding anniversary dinner like I wore mine to! ;)  Hubby thought it looked perty.  Hehe. :P  A total winner!
- Liner: black powder eye liner (matte) - very dense powder that has good pigment, staying power and doesn't smudge easily once on.  Contains 1.9 g / 0.06 oz.

Swatches
Below are swatches of each shade numbered accordingly.  These were applied on medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and photographed using a strobe.

The photograph below should hopefully depict the finishes of each shade - the shimmers in the highlighter and the satin sheen of the base in particular.

DIOR MANICURE COLLECTION
THE NAIL EXPERT KIT
I've actually been looking to get some new manicure tools and start to find the time to look after my nails and hands a bit more.  It's been so cold where I'm at that my hands and nails have been in such poor shape. :(  Then I spotted this gift set!  Perfect no?  It's pretty much got everything I needed to get back on track, and why not splurge on a luxury brand instead with the hope that the tools are better quality than your average and will last longer...hopefully.  ;)  Now whenever I use this set, I always feel completely pampered.  ^_^  Love the pouch, too, which also has a zipped pocket on one side, all the little bands and pockets to hold the various tools, nail products and anything else extra you wish to carry.
The manicure set contains:
Crème Abricot: a fortifying cream for nails, which has a strong apricot scent (to be honest, took some getting used to for me personally - I'm not a huge fan of the apricot fruit in general - sorry apricot fans!).   It also has a very thick, greasy, sticky feel, which I dislike.  Nonetheless, I persevere, because the product itself does wonders for my nails and hands when left overnight.  The product included is full-size (10g / 0.35 oz).
- Base Coat: mini size containing 7ml / 0.23 fl.oz.
- Top Coat: mini size containing 7ml / 0.23 fl.oz.
- Nail File: long, fairly thick and sturdy (aka good quality).  It also has the lovely Dior logo imprinted all over it.
- 2-in-1 Nail Cleaner and Cuticle Pusher
- Cuticle Cutter
Both the pusher and cutter are quite hefty in weight and looks and feels quite luxurious and high quality.  The both do the job really well.  Also, love the Dior logo etched onto the metal in white.
Below, the Crème Abricot - its size with respect to my hand.

Overall
Love these two Dior gift sets.  The palette is super easy to work with (whether it be for day wear or amped up for an evening smokey eye) and small enough to fit into a small hand bag.  The manicure set is sure to please any one who loves their nails and hands being pampered like I do!  I think the make great gifts for yourself or loved ones - definitely worth the splurge.
