Packaging
Like the rest of Chanel's nail polishes, it comes in a square-shaped glass bottle. The top cap comes off and is handy to rest your finger tip on during application. :)
The brush applicator is thin allowing precise application of the nail polish.
Colour & Finish
Cosmic is a black with silver shimmers. The finish is extremely glossy.
Consistency & Application
I found Cosmic to be a little watery and thin in consistency. So, the first coat is thin, uneven and looks quite bad. However, if you apply a slightly thicker amount on the second coat, it results in a perfectly even, glossy and opaque finish.
On My Nails
On my nails below, I applied 2 coats of Cosmic. For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone, and photographed indoors using a strobe.
All Chanel nail products are formaldehyde-free, toluene-free and DBP-free.
Longevity
I usually find most Chanel nail polishes on their own last up to a week on me, but Cosmic - with a Dior Base coat and no top-coat - started to have noticeable chipping at the tips on the fourth day of wear. A top coat should make it last longer though if you have time to apply it.
Bottom Line
While I wouldn't say Cosmic is amongst the most impressive nail polishes from Chanel overall, I do like the fact that the shimmers are visible despite its subtlety. I do love that Cosmic has extremely glossy shine. For a name like 'cosmic', I just wish it were a little more complex and interesting.
Availability
This was released as one of two limited edition nail polishes for Vogue Fashion Night Out last month. Exclusive to Chanel Makeup Studio in Myer, Sydney. Contact them to see if they have any more left in stock. Also, I found that previous VFNO nail polishes were then re-released as part of the permanent collection not long after, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is also the case this year. Do keep an eye out if you're interested! ;)
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
