BY TERRY HYALURONIC BLUSH IN 'BUBBLE GLOW' (3)

$

About
"An anti-ageing cream blush infused with hi-tech colour technology for fresh, sheer, eye-catching and ultra-long lasting colour.  Hyaluronic foam acid smoothes and firms the look of lines to visibly enhance cheekbones and the natural contour of the face." ~ By Terry

Skin Care Benefits
By Terry claim the following skin care benefits:
> "Hyaluronic acid molecules that plump up, smooth and hydrate the skin."
> "Galangal leaf extract plumps and moisturises from within by activating the skin's production of hyaluronic acid."

From my experience, I couldn't really see it plumping up my skin or smooth any fine lines (I don't really have many fine lines on the high point or apples of my cheeks where I tend to apply the product - unless when I smile but of course there is no hiding that! ;) ).  However, I can say it feels very comfortable to wear and my cheeks feel hydrated upon using it and even after I've removed it.

Packaging
The hyaluronic blush comes conveniently packaged in a squeezable tube, so you can easily squeeze as much of the product out as possible so there's no wastage when it comes to getting the last drop out of it.  It's fairly small and lightweight so it's travel friendly and the cap screws securely.
Colour, Texture & Finish
'Bubble Glow' is a bright, brink pink (coral-hued pink).  (Note, there are 2 other shades available).  At first, it appears more coral when the product is dispensed from the tube, but becomes more pink as it is blended out.  It has a gel/mousse-like consistency and feels weightless on the skin.  Like a stain, it has a mostly matte, natural finish, but has the perfect amount of transparency that allows the skin to peak through giving the effect of a healthy flush of colour.  Its pinkness perks up the skin and provides youthfulness.  Upon very close inspection you can see "barely-there" pearlescent pigments that are more evident when photographed in low lighting (see photo further down this post).

Swatches
Below are swatches of the product when dispensed, then applied layer upon layer and as a heavy swatch.  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and all photographed indoors using a strobe (unless stated otherwise).

Below: the gel/mousse-like consistency of the product when it's first dispensed from the tube.
Below: the product heavily swatched (on top of product that already been applied and blended out in 3 layers).
Below: the product blended out as a first layer on the skin.
Below: layer 2.
Below: Layer 3.
Below: photographed in low light (without the strobe) to capture the product's iridescence.
Longevity
This thang is a waterproof stain!!!  Below is a photo of the stain left behind after only about 30 seconds from when I first dispensed the product onto my wrist and took photographs of it, then tried hard to remove it with Bioderma!  And...it was *still* there after I tried removing it again with a cleansing oil!!  Hence, you might notice the stain in the other swatch photos. ^_^  (Sorry, I tried desperately to remove it, but to no avail).  This is perfect if you want something to stay on from the moment you put it on 'til you're ready to remove it.  Fortunately, you won't be applying it as heavily on the cheeks as I did initially on my wrist, so it will not be as challenging to remove - but I still recommend you use a waterproof makeup remover to make the job easier.  You will no doubt be able to swim all day with gorgeous cheeks.  Perfect for summer or if you live in hot, humid climate areas. :)
Application
The product sets and stains fairly quickly, so you need to blend it out within a few seconds.  I highly recommend you start by dispensing a tiny amount (about 1/4 of a pea-size) onto the back of your clean hand (or a clean mixing palette/plate dedicated for this purpose if you want to avoid staining your hand), then quickly work the the tips of a stippling brush into the dispensed product.  Then apply onto the cheeks with stippling/dabbing and swirling motion to blend and give an even and seamless application.  Repeat the process if you want to layer a bit more until you get your desired cheek colour intensity (obviously you will need to layer more the deeper your skin tone is).

[The stippling brush has thin/fine and sparse bristles which make its the best tool to ensure you never apply too much of this bright, staining product onto the cheeks all at once, and the synthetic tips will not absorb the product (less wastage) and pigments which will stain the bristles].

Pictured above is the Hakuhodo G544 stippling brush.

Scent
It has a very pleasant, soft, slightly powdery, floral type scent (similar to most of the other By Terry products), but I can't really notice it after it's been applied on the cheeks.

My Fave Lip & Cheek Pairing
My favourite lip colour to wear 'Bubble Glow' with is a very "matchy-matchy" shade in Dior's Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 'Magique' (479) - swatched and reviewed HERE.  The two are perfectly pretty!

Ingredients

Size
15ml

Overall
'Bubble Glow' is such a pretty, feminine, youthful and happy spring/summer shade.  Simple, travel-friendly packaging.  Incredibly long-lasting, waterproof wear.  Excellent, weightless texture that's comfortable and hydrating for the skin.  Though quite pricey due to it being a luxury brand and its combined skin care ingredients - a tiny amount does go a long way, so it will last you for ages.

Overall, it's a summer makeup must-have. ^_^

Hope this was helpful.

CHANEL NAIL COLOUR IN 'SWEET STAR' FOR VFNO 2014

$

Packaging
All Chanel nail colours come in the square-shaped glass bottle.
The cap comes off and also doubles as a place to rest your finger on during application. :)
The brush is thin for precise application.
Colour & Finish
Sweet Star is an intriguing shade that varies between a shimmering metallic silver to a pearlescent red-toned purple depending on the number of coats applied, lighting and viewing angle.  Due to its iridescence and pearl effect, Sweet Star is forgiving and can be applied sheerly or in a thin coat for a paler, purple-tinged metallic effect, or for a more intense, full coverage, silver metallic effect in 2-3 coats.

Texture & Application
You can apply Sweet Star in thin layers or if you are a bit lazy and impatient as I am - in thicker layers.  It has a versatile texture and applies smoothly either way.  The consistency is neither too thin or too thick.  Overall, application was a breeze as with most of the Chanel nail polishes I've used.  Also, dry time is relatively quick which is a bonus. :)

On My Nails
For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  All photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.

Below are photos of Sweet Star applied in only one, thin coat.
Below are photos of Sweet Star applied in 2-3 (semi-thick) coats against my medium, olive

Comparison Swatches
The red-toned purple pearlescence in Sweet Star (bottom left) is reminiscent of Chanel Paradoxal's (509) hue.  However, the two are completely different when applied.
Bottom Line
Stunning.  Definitely not one to be missed!!!

Availability
Sweet Star is a limited edition and was created exclusively for Vogue Fashion Night Out - Sept. 4, 2014 and available from the Chanel Makeup Studio, Myer Sydney City.  On the day, it was flying out the door, so you would be VERY lucky to still grab a hold of it somehow!

LATEST BEAUTY HAUL

Here are some of my new beauty purchases during VFNO in Sydney as well as some new arrivals from an online shopping spree. ^_^

// YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats Lipsticks (from the Autumn 2014 collection) in 'Rose Perfecto' (207) and Fuchsia Fétiche (208).  Haven't seen reviews and swatches of these two when I considered buying them, but they look pretty in the tubes.  It's my first to try YSL's matte formula.

// Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 'Nude Dip' (03) for Autumn 2014.  This has been all the rage recently amongst fellow makeup enthusiasts and beauty bloggers, so I'm very excited to join in - hopefully I will be raving about it, too. ;)

// Tom Ford Correcting Pen in 'Medium'(02).  It's a dual-ended concealer pen (one with a thicker, slightly salmon-toned pencil) and the other has a very, thin, sharp, pointed tip for more precise concealing. Can't wait to see how this performs for covering any tiny dark spots.

// Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 'Cuir Cannage' (796).  Yay!  Been waiting to get my hands on this since it's been available at all my local counters!

// Bourjois Universal Illuminating Java Rice Powder.  Packaged in vintage style that's reminiscent of the original packaging to celebrate their 150th anniversary.  I've been eyeing this revived version for quite some time, but it had sold out and was difficult to get.  Fortunately, I found it at Selfridges. ;)  My lovely husband had purchased the original (well, we hope), vintage Bourjois Powder container for me as a gift a couple or so years ago when he came across it online.  I just enjoy looking at it, but I shall do a post on that packaging compared to the new one with a review of the product itself (in the near future). :)

// Burberry Lip Mist in 'Feather Pink' (No. 209).  Three years on, many other lipsticks later and I must say this is still my all-time favourite every day lipstick!  Hence, why this is probably the only lipstick I have finished and actually repurchased.  (Apart from my fave red shade - Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick in #18 - which I have purchased backups of as I had heard it was going to be discontinued! :(  Not finished a tube of it though as I don't wear red lipstick as often).  'Feather Pink' is a beautiful colour, moisturising formula with an almost glossy finish.  You can read all about my rave and see swatches HERE.

// Chanel Les Temps Essentiels/Resynchronizing Skincare in a travel set (3 x 15 ml / 0.5 fl. oz).  This is a three-step skin care system that includes:
- Le Jour de Chanel (salicylic-based, "reactivating" skin care product applied in the weekday mornings to "minimise the appearance of pores and smoothes the skin").
- La Nuit de Chanel (hyaluronic acid-based, "recharging", weeknight face care to "sooth and calm the skin" and "awaken with a supple plump skin"), and
- Le Weekend de Chanel (glycolic acid-based "renewing" or chemically exfoliating skin care product that's used morning and night on the weekends).

I must say, I would never have purchased this set had it not been for the brilliant sales work at the Chanel counter and amazing full facial massage and skin care application.  I was wary of investing in the full-sized versions just in case it didn't work out for me, but this travel-sized combo is a perfect way to give the products a good go over a decent period without forking out a lot of money in the first instance.  I did notice at the counter that makeup went on a lot more smoothly on top of the products with minimised appearance of pores.  Also, when I woke up the next day, my skin looked absolutely fabulous - as if I had already done my makeup base and perfected my skin, except I hadn't!  My face looked fresh, smooth, even and just plain lovely!  All that in just a single application?!  It does seem promising indeed, but all will be confirmed after I've used the products for a longer period.

// Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush.  This is new and the first loose powder foundation from Chanel.  I was very impressed when the SA tried this on me in store.  I think I'm going to love this! :)  Seeing as spring is here and summer is approaching, I purchased it in a shade darker (No.40).  The official launch of this product in Australia is actually tomorrow (Sept 7), so do check it out!

// Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 'Rose Glacier' (170) and 'Jersey' (80).  Two new, limited edition blushes launched alongside the new loose powder foundation.  Both beautiful.  Will post a review and swatches of these as soon as possible! :)

// Chanel Nail Colour in 'Sweet Star'.  Limited edition, released exclusively for Vogue Fashion's Night Out (VOFN).  See swatches and my review of it HERE.

Hope this was interesting. :)

CHANEL JOUES CONTRASTE IN 'ROSE GLACIER' (170)

$

0
Rose Glacier (170) is one of two new, limited edition Chanel Joues Contraste/powder blushes released alongside their new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush (review coming), and a newly repackaged Le Blanc de Chanel Illuminating Base (my current, all-time fave reviewed HERE) that is taller and slimmer and most importantly, now comes with a convenient pump!  The other blush is called Jersey (80) (review also coming).

COLOUR, PIGMENTATION & FINISH
Medium, golden rose pink shade with a slightly cool undertone.  It has decent colour pay-off that can easily be built up in a couple of layers or two depending on how intense you like your blush, or if you have deeper skin tone.  The blush has gold iridescence throughout and this adds a gorgeous, golden glow or luminosity (as opposed to sparkle or glitter) and adds dimension to the face.  It's really a blush and highlighter in one that does not emphasise any large pores, and is appropriate for everyday or evening wear.
Below: photographed in low light (no strobe) to capture Rose Glacier's golden glow in all its glory! :)
SWATCHES
Below is a heavy swatch of Rose Glacier (left) and how it looks with normal application and blended out (right).  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Unless otherwise stated, they are photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
Below: photographed in low light (no strobe) to capture Rose Glacier's gold iridescence.
COMPARISON SWATCHES
Though differing in shade, initially, the golden shimmers in the pink Rose Glacier blush reminded me of those in the peachy pink Nars Orgasm.  However, as you can see in the swatches below, the level of shimmer is way stronger in the latter.  Chanel Joues Contraste in Tumulte is a much paler, cool-toned pink with satin to matte finish compared to Rose Glacier, while Pink Explosion is much more blue-toned with silver sparkles and a touch deeper.
Below: photographed in low light (no strobe) to capture any iridescence.
FORMULA, TEXTURE & APPLICATION
Unlike the pressed Joues Contraste powder blush formula released in the USA, this is a baked powder blush formula - typically released in Europe and other countries.  Generally, the baked formulas are a bit drier, harder and less powdery in texture compared to the pressed formulas, but usually can still deliver the same pigmentation and results if you use the provided (or similar), coarser natural brush applicator that allows more product to be picked up and blend the product efficiently.  If you use a softer, finer brush then you may find you need a layer or two more to build colour intensity.  On the upside, it is much more difficult to go overboard or apply too much colour at once. ;)

LONGEVITY
I found the blush to last about eight hours before it started to fade.  After that, it is still visible, but could do with a little touch up.  For reference, I used a primer and I currently have normal to dry skin.  I also walked the dog during a sunny, spring day I wore the blush, wearing one too many layers of clothing, so I worked up a little bit of a sweat.  Not too bad compared to most powder blushes I'd say.

PACKAGING
The blush compact in the signature Chanel black lacquer with a black velvet pouch.
Above: Product description label at the bottom of the compact.

SCENT
Like all Joues Contraste / powder blushes, it has that signature, rose-type scent, which isn't noticeable to me once applied on the cheeks.

SIZE
4 g / 0.14 oz

FAVE LIP & CHEEK PAIRING + OTHER MAKEUP SELECTIONS
My current favourite lipstick pairing with the Rose Glacier blush is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 'Rendez-vous' (87) swatched HERE and pictured above.  It's a medium pink that also has the same blue/cool undertone as Rose Glacier.  Love these two together! :)  I've also been loving the combination of makeup items pictured above.  You might have seen this if you follow me on Instagram. ;)  I often feature "makeup selections of the day" photos there (as well as other beauty related and non-beauty related stuff) - so do follow if you're interested. ^_^

Pictured above are:

// Chanel Joues Contraste in Rose Glacier
// Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 'Rendez-vous' (87)
// Chanel Le Blanc Light Revealing Whitening Makeup-Base SPF 30 in Mimosa
// Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) in No. 40 with Mini Kabuki Brush [review coming]
// Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Nude Dip (03)  [review coming]
// Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Highlighter

OVERALL
I'm very happy to find that Rose Glacier is unique in my collection of pink blushes.  I absolutely adore pink blushes (my favourite), and the gold iridescence just adds a beautiful glow.  Overall, Rose Glacier gives a youthfulness and brightness to the complexion.  Will suit most skin tones, but particularly flattering on olive skin as the slight cool undertone really enlivens the face the gold adds dimension and subtle highlight to the cheeks.  So pretty!  Definitely my new love. ^_^

AVAILABILITY
Available now in Australia.  Limited edition, so hurry!  I purchased mine from the Chanel Makeup Studio, Myer Sydney City.

CHANEL JOUES CONTRASTE IN 'JERSEY' (80)

$

Jersey (80) is one of two new, limited edition Chanel Joues Contraste/powder blushes released alongside their new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush (review coming), and a newly repackaged Le Blanc de Chanel Illuminating Base (my current, all-time fave reviewed HERE) that is taller and slimmer and most importantly, now comes with a convenient pump!  The other blush is called Rose Glacier (170) (review HERE).

COLOUR, PIGMENTATION & FINISH
I'd describe Jersey as a soft, rosy brown with ultra fine gold and rose shimmers.  Very natural looking against my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Exactly how my cheeks would look after I've spent some time out in the summer sun.  Jersey has decent colour pay-off that can easily be built up in a couple of layers or two depending on how intense you like your blush, or if you have deeper skin tone.  It gives a subtle sheen (not frost) finish to the cheeks with very fine shimmers that can only be seen up close.  The shimmers do not emphasise any large pores.
Below: photographed in low light (no strobe) to capture Jersey's iridescence.
SWATCHES
Below is a heavy swatch of Jersey (left) and how it looks with normal application and blended out (right).  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Unless otherwise stated, they are photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
Below: photographed in low light (no strobe) to capture the ultra subtle, fine iridescence in Jersey.
COMPARISON SWATCHES
Below are comparison swatches of Jersey to other similar shades in my collection - including Nars Douceur (this is probably the closest in colour as they both have a hint of rose, but it is slightly darker and a touch more brown), Rouge Bunny Rouge's Habanera (reviewed HERE) and Nars Luster.  The latter two are warmer and more orange.  Nars Luster is more of an apricot.  Nars Douceur and Chanel Jersey are more muted in colour.
FORMULA, TEXTURE & APPLICATION
Unlike the European baked powder formula of the other newly released Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Glacier' (reviewed HERE), Jersey comes in the pressed powder version usually released in the USA.  That's 6 grams of product compared to 4 g in the baked form!  Generally, the pressed formula are softer, finely milled and not as dry as baked formulas.  They can sometimes be powdery, but I found that Jersey's did not really kick up any powder.  Note, the bristles of the brush provided is quite thick and coarse, so you only need to pat/swirl the brush on the powder gently and it will pick up enough product at a time easily.   Alternatively, you may use a softer, finer brush.  (The brush provided really works better with baked powders).  The texture is smooth so it applies and blends easily on the skin.

LONGEVITY
I tried wearing Jersey on top of the new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) [review coming] without any primer underneath and the blush lasted only 4-5 hours before it pretty much all disappeared.  So, I highly recommend applying a primer to prolong its longevity.  I suspect it would last twice as long on top of primer like I have found with Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Glacier' (reviewed HERE).  For reference, I currently have normal to dry skin.  I also walked the dog during a sunny, spring day I wore the blush, and did enough housework to work up a bit of a sweat.

PACKAGING
The blush compact has a handy mirror and a useable brush applicator with natural bristles.

SIZE
6 g / 0.21 oz (compared to 4 g in the European baked powders).

OVERALL
If you love natural, neutral blushes and don't have one like it then Jersey is worth checking out.  Although I personally don't use neutral blushes as often, it is very versatile shade and a good one to use if you want a very natural-looking, minimal makeup, or to balance your overall look with an intense smokey eye, bold eye shadow colours or bold, bright lips.

THE CHANEL LIGHT BOX | CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE LOOSE POWDER FOUNDATION WITH MINI KABUKI BRUSH SPF 15

$

ABOUT
"Inside its new "LIGHT BOX," which holds the secrets of a naturally luminous and even complexion, CHANEL unveils an unprecedented duo. A loose powder foundation and a precious accessory: the MINI KABUKI BRUSH. The surprise: a texture with the evanescence of a loose powder and the smoothing result of a fluid foundation. For a natural second-skin result with no hint of thickness and an amazingly even and smooth skin texture.
- A new generation of high-definition light pigments that makes it possible to capture and diffuse softer light that is more flattering for the complexion.
- Mica powder, which optimises light reflection for a natural satiny effect.
- Canola oil derivative, which improves skin suppleness and provides a sensation of comfort on application and all day long.
- A sunscreen for SPF 15 protection."

PACKAGING
The product comes in a round, translucent plastic tub - designed to look like it's glass.  The black lacquer lid screws into place and it has the Chanel logo in white.
Above: the size of the product container relative to my smaller than average hand, and below: the container relative to Chanel's Natural Finish Loose Powder and Soleil Tan de Chanel (cream bronzer).

I do like the fact that the packaging isn't too big and because it's plastic, it's lightweight so it's still practical and convenient to travel with.
Below: the product label at the bottom of the container.
The container is fitted with an elastic gauze as an opening that allows a little bit of product to be dispensed at a time if tapped gently as instructed.  The product also comes with an ultra soft and densely bristled mini kabuki brush.  Its small size is not only appropriate for the size of the product container and for travelling with/keeping in your handbag, but also allows precise application.  The high density of the bristles allows more powder to be picked up and deposited onto the skin, so coverage can easily be built up.  The density and reasonable give in the brush also allows efficient blending of product through buffing motions.
Below: underneath the lid, there's a plastic safety seal that fits perfectly onto the elastic gauze opening and this keeps the powder from going everywhere and also keeps it fairly airtight.  Excellent idea. :)
Below: the Chanel logo on black lacquer handle of the mini kabuki brush.
Below: the white, synthetic bristles of the mini kabuki brush.  It has a round, slightly domed end -  perfect for both depositing product and blending out (especially the edges).
APPLICATION
1 // Turn the powder case upside-down and tap the bottom to release the powder in the case.
2 // Swirl the Mini Kabuki Brush over the sifter several times to take just the right amount of powder.
3 // Tap the brush on the sides of the case to remove excess powder.
4 // Sweep on lightly with circular movements, from the middle of the face outwards.  To build more coverage, gently dab or press the product onto the skin with the brush where needed and then blend or buff it out in circular movements.

I must say that I'm used to applying liquid foundations - usually with clean fingers - a process that is relatively quick.  So, I found the powder quite time consuming and tedious to use the first couple of times - partly because I was unsure of how much I needed to use and found I had to repeat the steps about 3 times to get the result I wanted.  However, I managed to get the hang of it after that and it doesn't seem so bad.  At least I don't have to wash my hands afterwards.  Also, even if you think you may have applied too much, it really never looks like it because of the fine quality of the powder and it will only really give you medium coverage at the most.  Overall, it's hard to overdo!

SHADES
There are currently only 5 shades available:  10 Beige, 20 Beige, 30 Beige, 40 Beige and 50 Beige.  So only fair to tanned skin tones are only catered for at the moment that suit the Chanel beige undertone.

I'm normally a 30 Beige, but since summer is coming up here in the southern hemisphere, I purchased a shade darker in 40 Beige, which is what is shown here in this post.  I found the 40 Beige in the loose powder pretty much matched the shade B40 (Beige - Désert) in the Vitalumière Aqua version, so I think the other shades will be consistent with each other in that liquid formula or other Chanel foundations with the same shade name/number.  The loose powder did oxidise just a little after 10-15 mins, but I wouldn't say it was dramatic enough to warrant getting a shade lighter. ;-)

I am currently undecided about how this shade looks on me.  A couple of times I've worn it (with and without a primer) it appeared to have a more pinkish undertone in natural light which doesn't suit my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone (i.e. naturally yellow/greenish undertone).  The other few times, I found it to look great in natural light - with no pink undertone!  The only reasonable explanation I can think that might explain this inconsistency is that the powder needs to be mixed through or shaken before use?

SWATCHES
Below is a heavy swatch of Beige 40 Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation.  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone. Unless otherwise stated, they are photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
Below: my bare wrist before I applied the foundation.
Here's how 3 layers (so you can see the difference in colour) of the foundation looks like when it's blended out using the provided mini kabuki brush.  You will notice that on my wrist the colour looks rather tanned, but in the swatch it is noticeably more pink.  You can also see that the powder is blended out very well and seamlessly onto the skin and (ignoring the colour difference), you can't really see any powder "sitting" on the skin or nestling in between lines and wrinkles thereby accentuating them.  So, it gives a very natural finish and looks just like your own skin.  It's not "cakey" looking even after 3 heavy layers!
Below: shot at an angle to capture the amazing, but natural-looking illumination it gives!
Take 2!
And, three below under low light (no strobe).  See how the skin now has light!!!  Chanel is not kidding when they call this their "Light Box". ^_^  It's not shimmery and I'd say it's not even your average "glow" where it tends to look as if it's coming from within.  Instead, it really looks a bit like a soft light is shining on it.  Don't you think? :)
COMPARISON SWATCHES
Below are swatches of other powder foundations and their respective shades compared to the Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder in shade Beige 40.
1] Chanel Le Blanc Light Mastering Whitening Compact Foundation SPF 25/PA+++ in B30 Beige - Sable.
2] Eve Lom Mineral Powder Foundation in 3 Beige (reviewed HERE with swatches of shades 4 and 5)
3] Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup SPF 15 in Medium
4] Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation Compact in 60 watts
6] Becca Boudoir Skin Mineral Powder in Dream
7] Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation in Beige 40

TEXTURE, FINISH, FEEL & WEAR
The powder is ultra fine and silky in texture, and applies smoothly and evenly.  Once buffed onto the skin, it gives a natural, second-skin finish (as Chanel claims).  A few times I have worn this, it had a very glowy, illuminated finish and other times, it appeared more natural or satin.  Again, this might be due to the powder not being mixed completely.  The product feels very lightweight and comfortable on the skin as if you have nothing on it.  While it doesn't dry out my skin, I didn't feel it added hydration, so if you have dry skin, I recommend prepping well beforehand by exfoliating and moisturising well.  Very dry skins may opt for a more hydrating foundation.  I didn't notice any increased suppleness as claimed.  I found the wear time to be surprisingly excellent for a powder even without a primer!  It lasted through the entire day on my current normal to dry skin in spring weather.  There was no visibly noticeable fading nor separation of product in areas.  The freshness of the look was maintained even more so with the help of a primer - lasting even throughout the evening with no touch-ups required.  It basically looked as good after 12 hours as it did the moment I first applied it in the morning! :)

SIZE
10 g / 0.35 oz of product

SCENT
In the container, there is a scent that's fairly common amongst most Chanel foundations - clean, fresh and slightly floral.  To me it is pleasant, but becomes unnoticeable after it's been applied on the face.

INGREDIENTS
OVERALL
Perfectly designed packaging that's practical and convenient without sacrificing the luxurious look. Suitable on most skin types (except perhaps those with very dry skin), and those who prefer light to buildable medium coverage.  The product sits beautifully and seamlessly on the skin with a flattering, natural and subtle illuminating finish.  Impossible to overdo!  The wear time is impressive. :)  Overall, I must say the quality of this product has converted me (a liquid foundation fan) to wearing powder foundations - at least just this one. ^_^

I do, however, highly recommend you apply a higher SPF underneath if you're wearing this during the day as it only has the minimum SPF 15.

AVAILABILITY

TOM FORD EYE COLOR QUAD IN 'NUDE DIP' (03)

$
0
0
This is the latest eye color quad from Tom Ford for Fall/Autumn 2014 and it's a limited edition.

PACKAGING
Below: the outer box packaging.
Like most luxury makeup brands, the compact is housed in a pouch to protect the compact from scratches, etc when stored in your bag.  This one has a suede feel to it and is quite soft.
I don't smoke, but as I mentioned before in other Tom Ford posts, the packaging kinda reminds me of a cigarette case.  It's very masculine with its sharp, square edges and dark chocolate and gold colour combination.  Quite retro. ;)
The compact is relatively long compared with most eye shadow quad compacts, but while it's rather large and hefty looking - it is actually very lightweight so it's ok to travel with.
Above: The size of the eye shadow compact with respect to my (smaller than average) hand, and below: the product description label on the bottom of the compact.
Below: it's all in the details with the Tom Ford logo embellished on the mirror.
The compact comes with a mirror and two applicators:
- A little dual-ended applicator with a semi-soft, angled blending brush (made of natural hair) on one end and a sponge applicator on the other end for patting on the product;
- A dual-ended sponge applicator with one end being smaller and pointed for applying eye shadow as an eye liner, or highlighting the inner corners of the eyes.
APPLICATION, TEXTURE, PIGMENTATION & LONGEVITY
This eye shadow quad (similar to the previous limited edition from Tom Ford called Enchanted) are in smaller sized pans with the "TF" monogram embossed on each eye shadow.  These eye shadow formulas can be used wet or dry unlike the permanent eye shadow quads which are housed in larger pans with no monogram that can only be used dry.  When used dry, it already delivers excellent colour pay off that's typical of Tom Ford eye shadows - and what you would expect from such a luxury brand (see dry swatches below).  But, the pigmentation - particularly the transformed metallic finish is even more spectacular with a dampened brush (see wet swatches further down below).  The texture is buttery smooth when dry for easy, even application and blending, and develops into a soft, creamy (almost air-whipped) texture (much like a cream eyeshadow) when mixed with a wet brush.  Overall, it works extremely well either way.

When used dry (with no eye primer), the eye shadows wore for about 6-7 hours on my eye lids which have normal (neither oily or dry) skin conditions before there was any noticeable fading of colour and shimmer.

COLOURS & FINISHES
From top (left to right) then bottom (left to right) we have the following colours in the palette:
1] Warm, champagne highlighter (sparkly/shimmery finish when dry and frosty/metallic when wet)
2] Warm, light to medium, slightly pinkish copper (shimmery when dry to frosty/metallic when wet).  This is a more muted, softer copper that's not as harsh-looking or too warm on skin tones so it's very easy to wear! :)
3] Light to medium taupe (shimmery when dry to frosty/metallic when wet)
4] Cool, dark brown (satin finish when dry with a subtle sheen when wet)

Despite most of the colours being shimmery when dry, the palette as a whole is surprisingly and pleasantly wearable and appropriate to wear for day time!  So do not fear my friends! ;)  The shades are rather neutral and nothing over the top at all.  The shimmers add brightness to the eyes and makes them look more awake.  The two lightest shades in the top row of the palette in particular, are the type of shades I would wear just on the mobile lids on their own for everyday.  However, as they are shimmery, I would advise against applying them above the crease, especially for those with heavy, hooded eyes - it can look unflattering and dated.  The light to medium taupe(shade #3) provides just enough depth if required for day wear.  While the darkest shade is just right for lining the eyes or adding more depth and intensity, or smokiness for evening wear, and its satin finish balances out the rest of the shimmery colours.

SWATCHES (DRY)
Swatches below were applied dry (with no primer) on medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and unless otherwise stated, photographed indoors using a strobe.  The swatches are numbered according to their corresponding eye shadow colour in the palette (pictured above).
Below: at an angle to capture its shiny finish.
Below: photographed in low light (without a strobe) to depict its shimmers.
SWATCHES (WET)
Just when you thought the eye shadows were pigmented enough on their own (swatched dry), the intensity is taken it to another level when using a damp brush!  You can see the shimmers are much stronger when applied wet so it gives an incredible metallic finish - perfect for more special occasions.  The silvery metallic sheen certainly takes away much of original warmth of the shades.
Below: wet swatches in low light (no strobe).
COMPARISON SWATCHES
Nude Dip is unique in my stash, but for reference, here are some comparison swatches that are kind of in the same colour family.
3] Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Raffinement (39)
4] Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Nude Dip (03)

OVERALL
While the colour combination doesn't have an obvious wow factor, I still think it's a really beautiful palette to own.  It's one that I'm sure I would get a lot of use out of, especially for day.  It applies effortlessly, it's versatile (can be used wet or dry for different finishes and therefore, looks), and the wear is reasonable when dry and without primer.  Nude Dip boasts in both quality and quantity, so I think it's worth the moolah.  I foresee this palette being good solid, workhorse for flattering ones eyes without being over the top.  So overall, if you can afford it, grab it while you can!

BURBERRY COMPLETE EYE PALETTE IN NUDE BLUSH NO.12

Nude Blush (No. 12) is one of two new Burberry Complete Eye Palettes released for The Bloomsbury Girls Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.  The other is called Slate Blue (No. 20).  [To see a sneak peek of my other picks - click HERE].

"A quartet of densely pigmented, coordinating eye colours that enrich the skin and remain vibrant all day
The formulation of each shadow has been customised to give a targeted texture for a specific use: luminising base highlighter, two medium colours to add shape, and an intense liner
The skin protecting, glide-on formula is blended with satin smooth silicones and enriching conditioners."

PACKAGING
Black velvet pouch with the iconic Burberry check.
The pouch folds open to reveal the three little applicators provided and are stored in a little pocket, and the big pocket itself for the eye palette.
The Burberry complete eye palette compact is very cool in its gunmetal finish with the Burberry iconic check on the lid.  It has a sleek, yet very secure magnetic closure.  Underneath the lid is a mirror.
The size of the compact with respect to my relatively small-to-medium hand.
The product description label on the bottom of the compact.
The three mini applicators provided include a blending brush with natural bristles, a very good quality sponge applicator and an eye liner brush.  All good enough to use if you're so inclined whilst out and about or travelling and can't be bothered carrying normal-sized brushes.
COLOURS, PIGMENTATION, TEXTURE & APPLICATION
From top right to bottom left of palette:
// Light, pink-toned beige with a satin finish
// Light to medium, subtly warm (not orangey) copper with a subtle shimmers
// Medium, dusty mauve with a matte finish
// Dark brownish eggplant with a satin finish

The combination of colours work really well to "enrich the skin" as I think Burberry claims.  The colours are soft rather than provide heavy, blocks of colour (a similar effect to the 'Rose Pink' No. 10 Burberry Palette released in the beginning of the year).  Overall, the colours are earthy and ever-so-slightly warm so they sit well with most skin tones and look very natural, effortless and soft definition.  The coppery plum tones provide a wonderful alternative to the usual beige and brown-toned neutrals.

Although most of the shades are soft, they are not sheer.  All the shades have excellent, buildable colour pay-off - consistent with most of the Burberry Sheer Eye Shadows if you are familiar with them.

The textures of the eye shadows are exceptionally silky and soft that you can barely feel it on the skin, and it applies smoothly and blends effortlessly.  As they are ultra soft, you may find that your brush may kick off a bit of powder from the pan and also have powdery fall-out during application, so be gentle.  I recommend applying the eye shadows first prior to applying your foundation/base to ensure you can clean up any fall-out.  Otherwise, I recommend using a soft natural-haired brush.  Also, after dipping your brush into the pan to pick up product - to press the pigment onto the bristles between the tips of your clean finger and thumb before then applying onto your lids.  This helps to deposit the pigment onto your eye lids whilst preventing fall-out.

You can also apply the eye shadows with a dampened brush for more intensity (and no fall-out) as well as over a primer if you wish.  However, I prefer the soft, natural look that dry application gives.

SWATCHES
All swatches below are applied on my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone with no primer.  All photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
COMPARISON SWATCHES
I compared Nude Blush to two other similar palettes in my collection: Tom Ford's Orchid Haze and Burberry's Plum Pink (No. 06).  I'd have to say that I'm most taken with Burberry's Nude Blush out of the three!  I must say I was initially going to pass on Nude Blush since it reminded me so much of Plum Pink, but I'm so glad I didn't.  I'd say your personal pick will depend on which "star" colour you prefer - the intense plum in Plum Pink or the gorgeous subtly shimmery copper in Nude Blush.  I find Nude Blush is much easier to wear for the day.  Tom Ford's Orchid Haze is cooler-toned overall.
INGREDIENTS
LONGEVITY
I found the eye shadows lasted throughout a (normal spring) day on my eye lids which have normal skin condition (neither oily or dry), and without the use of a primer.

OVERALL
Nude Blush is now a new favourite of mine and offers beautiful neutrals with copper and plum nuances.  Excellent for a simple, every day, natural look, or amped up with a bold lip colour for a night out.  The powder texture is exquisite - making it glide on so effortlessly and difficult to overdo.   The sleek, luxurious packaging is among my favourites.  Overall, Nude Blush is understated, chic and effortless.  Sooo Burberry.  Love.

BURBERRY NAIL POLISH IN 'TEAL BLUE' (No. 427)

About
Teal Blue (No. 427) is one of four, new runway shades released for the Burberry autumn/winter 2014 'The Bloomsbury Girls' collection.  I purchased three of them (see here).  The fourth is Dark Bottle Green (No. 423).

Packaging
Gorgeous packaging as usual from Burberry Beauty - it's consistent with the rest of the makeup line. The cap is plastic with the gunmetal-like finish and has the iconic Burberry check all around it.

The applicator brush is wide and flat for easy and quick application with fewer strokes.  I did have difficulty applying on my little finger where it has a much narrower nail and a curved edge, so this large, square-edged brush isn't the best if you have such nail shape and size.
Colour & Finish
A deep teal blue with a cream, glossy finish.  Here's what it looks like in two coats on my medium, olive, ~NC30 skin tone (photographed indoors using a strobe).
Comparison Swatches
I found Chanel Magic to be an excellent dupe apart from being just a smidgen darker than Burberry Teal Blue.  I noticed no 'bubbling' of Chanel's Magic this time around, which is a relief! :)
Formula & Application
The dry time is relatively fast, but unfortunately, the formula is of this particular shade is a touch too thick for me and doesn't level out as quickly as I'd like before it starts to set.  Complete coverage is obtained in two coats.

Goodness in the Formula
"The formula contains strengthening and moisturising elements, including anti-oxidant pro-vitamin B5 and myrrh extract, to help protect and care for nails and prevent breakages."

Longevity
Different shades and finishes may vary longevity, but I've had the Burberry nail polish in 'Ash Rose' (No. 103) last for two whole weeks on me with only minor tip wear!  The longest lasting nail polish I've experienced so far (and beats Chanel nail polishes). :)

Size
8ml / 0.27 fl oz

Availability
Available now at Burberry Beauty counters in select David Jones stores in Australia.

Verdict
A "dupable" shade whose formula could be better, especially for a high-end brand like Burberry.  If you have Chanel Magic in particular, which applies evenly with ease then you don't need this one.

Hope this was helpful. :)

BURBERRY NAIL POLISH IN 'ELDERBERRY' (No. 407)

About
Elderberry (No. 407) is one of four, new runway shades released for the Burberry autumn/winter 2014 'The Bloomsbury Girls' collection.

Click HERE for photo of the applicator brush and bottle cap, etc.

Colour & Finish
A deliciously rich, deep elderberry or byzantium shade with a cream, glossy finish.  Here's what it looks like in two coats on my medium, olive, ~NC30 skin tone (photographed indoors using a strobe).
Comparison Swatches
I found a couple of excellent dupes for Elderberry in Laura Mercier's Noir Glacé and OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark.  The latter two are just a smidgen darker than Elderberry and are more opaque and even in two coats.
Formula & Application
The dry time is relatively fast, but unfortunately - similar to Burberry Teal Blue (reviewed here), the formula is of Elderberry is a touch too thick for me and doesn't level out as quickly as I'd like before it starts to set.  Complete coverage is obtained in 2-3 coats.

RRP & Size

Verdict
A very beautiful, rich shade for autumn/winter.  I'm not usually one for vampy shades, but Elderberry is dark enough that it is almost black, so it looks more modern, and leans more purple/violet than red so it flatters yellow/olive skin tones.  But, as much as I love the shade, it is indeed another "dupable" colour whose formula could be better, especially for a high-end brand like Burberry.  Laura Mercier's Noir Glacé and OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark are better and more affordable alternatives.

Hope this was helpful. :)

Colour & Finish
A deep, ink blue shade with a cream, glossy finish.  Here's what it looks like in two coats on my medium, olive, ~NC30 skin tone (photographed indoors using a strobe).
Comparison Swatches
I was pleased to find that Ink Blue was unique in my collection.  The closest shade I could find is Chanel's new fall/autumn shade in 'Orage', however the latter is more blackened in colour, has more of a jelly-like, slightly translucent finish in comparison to the more opaque, glossy Ink Blue.
Formula & Application
The consistency is just right in this one (neither too thick or thin) so it makes for easy and even application.  The dry time is relatively fast, too.  Complete coverage is obtained in two coats.

Goodness in the Formula
"The formula contains strengthening and moisturising elements, including anti-oxidant pro-vitamin B5 and myrrh extract, to help protect and care for nails and prevent breakages."

Verdict
Ink Blue is definitely my favourite of the three I selected from the new Burberry nail polish collection.  Love the dark, almost black colour - very classy for autumn/winter and...it has the best formula of them all.  I highly recommend this one if you don't already have one like it!

HOLIDAY HAULIN'

Hi folks!  Hope life's treatin' you well! ^_^  If you follow me on Instagram, you may've been inundated with photos noticed I was on a (much needed) holiday.  It was short, but sweet.  It involved a lot of chillin' at the beach in my home town, a visit to Melbourne, and spending quality time with family and friends over some delicious food!  Of course, I couldn't go without a little bit of shopping, especially with all the new collections. >_<  So here are the beauty goodies I purchased!  As usual, I will endeavour to write a review and post some swatches of some of these over the coming weeks, so please do keep an eye out for those if you're keen. ;)
[A] Chanel Nail Colour in Exception (639) (new colour released alongside their new Rouge Allure Glosses)
[B] Chanel Nail Colour in Expression (635) (new)
[C] YSL 5 Couleurs Ready-to-Wear Eye Shadow Palette in Palette Fétiche (limited edition for fall/autumn 2014)
[D] Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Mind (limited edition for Stila's 20th anniversary)
[E] Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Extase (16) (new lip gloss range that are very pigmented and packaged the same as the Rouge Allure Lipsticks with their click and release mechanism. Extase is a medium, cool-pink).
[F] Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil in Brunette (an old favourite repurchased as I was running out of my current favourite Suqqu Liquid Brow Pen while I was on holiday and left my backup at home!)
[G] Nars Audacious Lipstick in Angela (bright, purple-pink)
[H] Nars Audicious Lipstick in Lana (bright, red-orange)
[I] Mac Cream Nail Lacquer in Dignity (very pretty, soft coral - limited edition from the Brooke Shields collection)
[J] YSL Nail Lacquer in Rose Scabiosa (48) - light to medium, lilac pink with a cream finish.

I also came across the new Chanel Mini Brushes that are usually released as part of the Christmas/Holiday collections.  (Note, the makeup/colour collection will come out in a couple or so weeks).  I already own a set from a few years ago and was about to pass on these, but I really liked how soft the bristles were on this set (the travel sets have previously been quite coarse and low quality in my opinion).  Love the case, the range of mini brushes and brush holder.  I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of these everyday as well as for travel.
The round mesh case comes with two zipped compartments and inside there's a removable, large round mirror.  Plenty of room for makeup and brushes.
Above, the brushes in the brush holder with respect to my hand.
[A] Contour Shadow Brush
[B] Mesh Brush Holder that can be laid flat or rolled and secured with a velcro so that it forms as a vertical-standing brush holder.  Very handy!
[C] Eyeliner Brush
[D] Eyeshadow Brush
[E] Powder and Cheeks Brush
[F] 2 in 1 Foundation Brush Fluid & Powder (like the Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush I love)
[G] Lip Brush

I'm sure these brushes will sell out quickly, so hurry if you want them!
New WoodWick Candle in Beach Boardwalk (smells so good so can't wait to burn this!)
Hubby and I love L'Occitane and were super excited to find their new range of Shea Butter Ultra Soft Body Cream.  They come in three different scents (and pretty, bright coloured tins - perfect for spring and re-use!): Rose Heart, Vanilla Bouquet and Zesty Lime.  We purchased a few of them as gifts for family and friends and picked up the Zesty Lime for ourselves - smells divine! ;)  I also took advantage of L'Occitane's limited time offer where you can purchase a "Delights from Provence" gift set for AU$25 when you spend at least AU$60.  The set includes:
1x Shea Butter Shower Cream 75 ml
1x Shea Butter Body Lotion 75 ml
1x Bonne Mere Soap milk 100 g
1x Shea Butter Rose Hand Cream 30 g
1x Shea Butter Foot Cream 10 ml

Being a member, I was also given for free a 300 ml pump bottle of the L'Occitane Ultra Rich Hand & Body Wash (not pictured coz I forgot - sorry!).  So we walked away pretty happy. ^_^
Yes, having visited Melbourne, I had to pay a visit to Daiso!  The Daiso on Spencer Street is way bigger, well-stocked and have a broad range of goods compared to the store in Haymarket, Sydney.  So pleased to find the much-raved-about Detergent for Puff and Sponge there (read the review of it by Sarah from A Beautiful Storyhere). :)  I stocked up on my fave cotton pads (which do not have any stitching on the edges so they're super soft on the skin), and purchased a few things I've not tried before such as their makeup wipes and cleansing water.  At AU$2.80 you can't go wrong.  Have you tried these?  Let me know what you think!  Apart from these beauty buys, I bought my fave Caramel Corn snacks there (not pictured) - I am addicted to them! >_<

There ya go!  I didn't expect to have shopped during my short holiday but it seems my will power was on holiday, too at the time. *sigh* ;)

Thanks for looking! ^_^ xo

CHANEL NAIL COLOUR IN 'EXPRESSION' (635)

$

0
Expression (635) is one of the new, limited edition nail colours released alongside Chanel's new Rouge Allure Gloss range.  The other is called Exception (639) [to be reviewed next, but is pictured in this previous haul post].  There is another limited edition shade, called Intention (a pearlescent beige), which I don't think is released here in Australia.  Better for the wallet me thinks. ;)
Colour & Finish
Expression is described as a strawberry red.  It has a cream finish.
Coverage, Consistency & Application
This beauty is a one-coat wonder!  Yesss!  (Only one coat was applied on my nails in this post).  Application is a breeze.  The consistency is just right (neither too thick or too thin) and it 'self-levels' well and colour is applied evenly.  Dry time is quick, too. ^_^

All Chanel nail polishes are formaldehyde-free, toluene-free and DBP-free.
Packaging
Chanel nail polishes come with a plastic, square cap which other than for aesthetic purposes, you can use to rest your finger tip on as you apply on the nail polish.
The applicator brush is thin, which is great for precise application and also suits all nail shapes and sizes as big, flat, square edged brushes may not work for those with more of a curved-shape at the cuticle ends and/or have smaller, narrower nails.
Comparison Swatches
For reference, all nail swatches were applied with a single coat.  I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.
Below are the comparison swatches and were photographed in full sun.  Hopefully you can see the subtle differences! >_<  Out of all of them, I'd say that Expression is a more neutral to cool-toned red.  It is bright, but a little less bright than Chanel's Rouge Rubis and OPI's Big Apple Red.  The latter two are warmer and lighter in colour.  Chanel Pirate is the deepest and clearly has a blue/cool undertone.
Overall
Expression is a nice-to-have.  The formula and application are excellent, but the shade isn't unique.  It would suit all skin tones though and I like that it has enough depth and coverage in it so that the hanging edge of your nails isn't too obvious even with a single coat compared to Chanel Rouge Rubis for example).

CHANEL NAIL COLOUR IN 'EXCEPTION' (639)

Exception (639) is one of two, new, limited edition nail colours released alongside Chanel's new Rouge Allure Gloss range.  The other is a strawberry red called Expression (635) [reviewed here].  There is another limited edition shade, called Intention (a pearlescent beige), which unfortunately (or fortunately for my wallet) isn't released here in Australia.
Colour & Finish
Exception is described as a red brown.  It has a cream finish.
Coverage, Consistency & Application
I'm happy to report that like Expression, this beauty is also one-coat wonder!  Woohoo!  (So, I took advantage of its amazing powers, by only applying one coat on my nails in this post).

For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone and photographs were taken indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.  Exception is unique in my collection, but below are a couple of Tom Ford nail polishes I've swatched against Exception which are in the same red brown family - i.e. the much deeper, cream finished Tom Ford Bitter Bitch (applied in three coats as it was hard to get even!) and the shiny, shimmery metallic Minx (applied in 2-3 coats).
Overall
I'd say Exception is a must-have out of the two, new limited editions released in Australia due to its uniqueness and excellent one-coat wonder magic.  It's so apt for autumn/winter and slightly edgy as it leans more towards the delicious, rich, chocolate brown (particularly in natural light) than the typical red wine and burgundy colours.

I absolutely love this cleanser.  I use it every night as a final, deep cleanse after initial makeup removal using either Bioderma or the Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (my current affordable alternative to Shu Uemura's).  I've only tried two other cleansing balms so far, including the significantly more expensive Eve Lom Cleanser and the most affordable of the three Clinique Take The Day Off and I must say Emma Hardie's is my favourite. It smells and feels luxurious. (I find Eve Lom's overwhelming with its very strong medicinal scent, which I can't stand. My husband can't stand its scent either! Clinique's is odourless so it's great for those sensitive to scents). It makes cleansing a real treat - even when I'm feeling so tired in the evening, when I start cleansing with this, I start to relax and really enjoy the process of gently massaging my face. I even find that the longer I massage the face, the oils work even better as your hands and movement help to warm the product. My skin feels more than satisfactorily clean and soothed. *grin* There's no dryness or tightness - just smooth, soft, supple, clean skin - like a baby's bottom.

I really feel like my skin has improved with this product and in particular has helped keep pimples/breakouts at bay, because of the deep cleansing. And because it's actually enjoyable to do, it makes it easy to be consistently doing it every night even when I'm exhausted. I actually really look forward to it! Clinique's is not bad for it's price - it does a good job and it's also gentle, but Emma Hardie's just feels and smells much more decadent and cleanses a lot more deeply into the skin I feel.

On a side note, I personally try to avoid the eye area with this even though they say it's ok to, just because I find a little always gets into my eyes somehow (which you should avoid) and I have very sensitive eyes.

As the cleanser comes in a large, hefty pot, I like to transfer a smaller amount into a more travel-friendly sized tub like my fave GoTubb container when I'm travelling coz I can't do without it!

I love the super handy, luxe double-sided wash cloth that it comes with, too.  I think I will purchase more of these as they can be purchased separately as a set of three. :)

All in all, this is definitely a new staple of mine, so I will definitely be repurchasing this over and over.  It's a luxury spa experience in a big pot without breaking the bank.  Brilliant.  Recommend. Big. Time.

RRP & SIZE
£36.00 for 100 ml / 3.4 fl. oz of product. I've been using mine for about 5 months now, so I'd say the pot will probably last about 6 months when used once a day.

AVAILABILITY
I purchased mine from Space NK UK who ship internationally.

Hope this was useful. :)

SNEAK PEEK! | MY PICKS FROM THE CHANEL PLUMES PRÉCIEUSES COLLECTION FOR HOLIDAY 2014

ABOUT THE COLLECTION
"What is lighter than a feather? A cloud of powder, a fleck of gold dust. And even lighter still is the spirit of a festive evening. Graceful and feminine, the feather floats through the world of Chanel landing on a brooch, a fancy cape, an evening gown. The Chanel Makeup Creation Studio has drawn inspiration from the feather’s wispy softness for a collection filled with subtle shades, embellished with gold and silver. Stunning evening makeup, like jewelry made of feathers and diamonds."
I must admit that at first glance, I wasn't too excited by this year's Chanel holiday 2014 collection given that none of the items appeared unique.  Being a highlighter fiend, I did consider the highlighter for a bit.  I still can't stop using my Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder from Spring 2013!  It's hard to beat.  This holiday's highlighter seemed an unnatural-looking colour.  Although the blush appeared your average peach (and I am more of a pink blush fiend), I knew I would still be tempted due to my love of the Chanel Joues Contraste blushes.  I also adore the Chanel long wear cream eye shadows, but this collection's release - a seemingly scary orange for the eyes - received no consideration from me.  Until that is...the MUA tried them all on me at the store.  My fear and boredom dissipated for these three.  I must say the blush in particular looked the most flattering on me. :)  Here are some sneak peek happy snaps.
CHANEL CAMÉLIA DE PLUMES POWDER IN PLATINE
"As an absolute mark of luxury and fantasy, the feature has inspired a light and refined illuminating powder with precious shimmers blended in a platinum shade."
CHANEL JOUES CONTRASTE BLUSH IN 'CARESSE'
"Soft and neutral peach with silver pearl"
CHANEL ILLUSION D’OMBRE EYESHADOW IN 'ENVOL'
"Peach shimmer"

As these are limited edition, it is worth trying them on first as one or more may just take your fancy then like they did me.  I know the highlighter will be the most popular, so I would go on the wait list to make sure you don't miss out.

My review and swatches of all three of my picks will be coming soon on the blog. ;)

The rest I skipped - I couldn't take yet another red nail polish or red lipstick.  (At least not so soon LOL) ;)  I wasn't drawn enough to this collection's 'Oiseau De Nuit' 5 eye shadow palette - it was quite soft/sheer I noticed, too (a plus or a minus depending no your preference).  The peachy pink lipstick 'Volage' was too light for my medium, olive skin tone.  The eye pencil 'Or Blanc' (a white gold) looked lovely, especially for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes or lining the lower water-line, but I felt it contrasted a little too much on me for my liking.  Worth considering though if you have light to medium skin tones.

AVAILABILITY
Available in Australia at Chanel Beauty Boutiques now, or end of this week at Chanel Makeup Studio (Myer, Sydney), or beginning of November in the rest of the Chanel beauty counters.

Hope this was interesting/helpful. :)

MAC BROOKE SHIELDS STUDIO NAIL LACQUER IN DIGNITY

Dignity is one of two new, limited edition nail lacquers from the Mac Brooke Shields collection.  It's described aptly as a soft coral and it has a cream, but glossy finish.
"New high-gloss formula. Visibly different. Provides no-streak/no-chip finish. Contains conditioners and UV protection. Go hi-lacquer! Limited-edition packaging in light grey with brilliant orange accents and Brooke’s signature."
The nail polish bottle is large with fairly thick glass so it's hefty.  I do like the grey and orange combo, too.
The applicator brush provided is flat and relatively narrow so it's still easy and precise to apply for all nail shapes and sizes.
The consistency of the product is just right - not too thick or too thin.  Two coats is required for full, even coverage.  Dry time is relatively quick.  Below is how it looks on my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.
Below are comparison swatches.  It's great to see that I've no exact dupe in my collection.  Although Chanel's Orange Fizz appeared very similar when compared in their bottles, they are actually different when applied on the nails.  Orange Fizz is a shade or two darker and more orange.  Chanel's Starlet is a darker, salmon pink with gold iridescence.  Chanel's Distraction is a deeper coral with more pink due to its fuchsia shimmers.
Bottom Line
I really like this very soft, pretty, feminine shade.  Excellent for spring.  This lasted at least 3-4 days on me with no chipping or noticeable wear before I took it off to change colours (I do it often).  I'm pretty it would have lasted even longer if I'd left it on.  Worth a check out if you can still get a hold of it!  It was the only thing that drew my attention in the collection.

Size: 9 ml / 0.30 US fl. oz.

Hope this helps. :)

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICKS IN ANGELA AND LANA

I picked up two of the new Nars Audacious Lipsticks in Angela and Lana.  The new range of lipsticks is permanent and has an amazing selection of 40 shades to choose from!  :-O  Here's the story behind the new range:
"Dramatic Depth. Unstoppable Character.
Modern lipstick so shamelessly seductive in touch and texture the sensation is audacious.
Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin with single-stroke coverage. A spectrum of 40 shades for unstoppable impact.
One-stroke, full-coverage creamy wear
Luxurious texture and enriched with ingredients to smooth and nourish lips.

Long-lasting."

PACKAGING
These Nars Audacious Lipsticks are encased in brand new, square-shaped, sleek black packaging that's metal or metal-like.  It has a magnetic closure.
Below left is the size and packaging of the new Nars Audacious lipstick versus the original Nars Lipstick on the right.  However, both have the same amount of lipstick (see size details below).  Any finger print and such on the new lipstick case is only slight noticeable in certain lighting angles, but certainly would keep cleaner than the original lipstick's rubberised surface, which tended to easily get grubby over time.
SIZE
Same as the original lipstick range at 4.2 g / 0.14 oz.

COLOUR, COVERAGE & FINISH
These two in particular apply true to colour and are extremely pigmented.  Full opacity is indeed achieved in a single swipe with these and they have a satin finish.

TEXTURE & WEAR
The texture is smooth and creamy without being too soft that it slides off your lips, nor is it thick.  So it's not heavy and it feels comfortable enough on the lips.  While I don't feel it adds moisture to my lips, it certainly doesn't dry them out.  As these are packed with intense colour, they leave a stain so it has great lasting power - about 5-6 hours on me.

SCENT
There's no taste or scent, which is great for those who are sensitive or just prefer not to have any.

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK IN ANGELA
Described as a "pink orchid".  You know I love me some uber bright, cool-toned, purply pink lips (I can't get enough) and I am in quite smitten with this one. ^_^  Looks very flattering on those with olive skins as it instantly lifts and brightens the complexion.  Yummy.  :P
NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK IN LANA
Watch out and put your sunnies on for Lana.  It's described as a "vivid orange red" and well, it is. :)  And a gorgeous one at that!  It's even more intense in colour than Angela.  It almost glows!  Lana would look particularly smashing on those with warm skin tones.
SWATCHES
Below are swatches against my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  All photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.  These are only a single coat of lipstick!  Marvellous!
COMPARISON SWATCHES
Angela has a similar blue undertone as Nars Cinematic Lipstick in Full Frontal (kinda in between that and Maybelline's Hot Plum), but Angela is brighter and a smidgen pinker so I find it much more wearable than Full Frontal.  The latter also has a tad more shine.  Lana and Heat Wave (my old fave orange red) are very close dupe, but not quite.  Heat Wave is ever so slightly muted and more orange and Lana - more red.  Lana is slightly brighter and a touch more saturated.  It also has a bit more shine to it.
VERDICT
While bright lipstick fiends are likely to have something similar to Lana and/or Angela, the new range is a must for lipstick lovers.  These pack a real punch of colour.  The only bad (or good) thing is, there's too many shades to choose from.  Good luck with that. ;)  But, I do highly recommend my picks if you don't already have one similar with the same level of pigmentation.  If I had to pick just one of the two, I'd have to say Angela! *sigh*  I'll probably find myself picking up one more...or two...

Hope this was helpful.

A LITTLE SOMETHIN' FROM NET-A-PORTER

$

I took advantage of Net-A-Porter's free express shipping on the weekend.  This offer is still on for all goods shipped to Australia, but for a limited time only.  Not sure when it will end though. /:-\  Otherwise, it's usually AU$10, which is pretty cheap via DHL.  I ordered on Saturday and received my parcel the following Monday!  Super fast.  I restricted myself to only three things (a sigh of relief from my wallet).
I purchased the new limited edition Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette.  Unfortunately, this is currently sold out on the site (so quick!), but they may restock so make sure you sign up for notification.  While I wasn't too thrilled with their Ambient Lighting Powders (I purchased Mood Light which didn't work out for me), I am a fan of their Ambient Lighting Blushes.  I own and love Diffused Heat which gives a gorgeous, enlivening colour to my olive cheeks.  So, I had to pick up this cute palette of three - I believe the shade in the middle called Incandescent Electra is exclusive to the palette.  The left blush is Luminous Flush and the right is Mood Exposure.  The palette is so cute, too! ^_^
The second item has been on my wish list for a long time.  It's the much raved about Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight.  I finally have it - it's actually been sold out on Net-A-Porter previously for some time, too so I couldn't wait any longer.  I do have an unhealthy obsession with highlighters.  I really appreciate the minute packaging, too and will come in handy whenever I travel.
Last but not least, is my second Lafco House and Home Bath Soap, but this time in Champagne. ^_^  I purchased one in a set last time that paired with a candle called the Marine Candle and Soap Set (also from Net-A-Porter).  Loved it.  Champagne smells amazing from the box alone and I love the humongous bar of soap - it's so luxurious.  Makes me feel pampered every time.
Can't wait to try all of these! :)

Thanks for looking. ^_^ xo
