As some of you may already know, I'm not usually partial to green eye shadow, but Chanel just creates the most stunning iridescence, unique hues, and a combination that oozes class it's hard to resist! *sigh* From the moment I saw Tissé Vénitien (232), two of its shades immediately reminded me of a couple of the darker shades from my all-time favourite eye shadow palette Ombres Perlées de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette - a limited edition from Chanel Spring 2011. Of course, I had to get it! >_< If you missed out on this palette or love it as much as I do then you must check this new palette out! It's the closest thing - in terms of shades and finish (despite the 2011 palette's more cream-like texture). The other new Chanel eye shadow quad that is reminiscent of the other shades in that palette is Tissé Gabriélle (which I will post a review on after this). :)
Here's what Chanel have to say about Tissé Vénitien and the inspiration behind it:
"A TWEED THAT REVEALS THE MYSTERIES OF VENICE.During an initiatory journey through the canals of Venice, Gabrielle Chanel drew inspiration from the enchanting colour combinations she saw in the City of the Doges. A hypnotic partition composed around green. From a delicate silver pink, a bluish green and an intense green to a platinum khaki, the palette floods your eyes with luminosity rivaled only by water itself.Discover the makeup workshop and ideas to capture the shimmers of the Adriatic Sea on your eyes."

Packaging-wise, all is the same as its predecessor. A beautiful, simple, lightweight, sleek black lacquered compact.
The compact has a mirror on the underside of the lid for and very good quality, smooth sponge applicators. While most people would normally not bother to use these, I personally find them rather useful and perfectly fit for these type of eye shadows. They pick up the product really well and deposit and place the pigment perfectly when using a patting/dabbing motion. You can also use them to blend out any edges with gentle swipes. Otherwise, use your favourite brushes. ;-)
Anti-clockwise from the lightest shade in the palette (top right), we have a pale, satin, silver pink highlighter; a gorgeous, bright, iridescent teal; metallic platinum khaki and a deep, iridescent blackened green.
See them glow! *_*
I'm very impressed with the pigmentation of these reformulated eye shadows. I only need to go over the eye area once to get decent colour pay-off. When applied, the colour stays true to what you see in the pan. The texture is smooth, slightly creamy even (compared to the previous formula which was much dryer and even a bit coarser in texture and needed a damp brush to soften the product and to get better colour intensity). It adheres to the skin and blends easily. I experienced no fall-out during application with the exception of the metallic platinum khaki, which had a little bit of shimmer fall-out (nothing too obvious though).
Swatches
Applied on tanned, olive skin (~NC35) and photographed indoors under artificial lighting using a strobe. These were swatched dry (with no primer, etc), using the sponge applicators provided and minimal number of swipes (2-3).

Lip and Cheek Pairings
There are no rules when it comes to makeup - just have fun and wear what you like with confidence I say! :) But, I thought I'd share a few of my favourite lip and cheek pairings with this particular eye shadow quad. I must admit, I found it a little tricky at first, especially since I don't often wear green eye shadow and I already have naturally, tanned, dull, greenish-skin tone. /:-\ However, I found a few lovely shades that worked best for my skin tone and it turned out to be a rather fun challenge in the end!
You can wear the eye palette in a multitude of ways, but here are a couple. First off is pairing the bottom two, cooler, more greyish, metallic shades. This is on the more neutral side, so it's a little more versatile what lip and cheek shades to pair it with. Really, if you want to be on the safe, more natural side and you have the perfect nude lipstick for your skin tone, then go ahead and opt for a nude lip and neutral/tanned/brown/bronze cheeks (contoured or on the apples of the cheeks). This will work with all looks! However, since I don't particularly suit nude lips - I find I really need a little bit of colour to brighten up my tanned, olive skin tone. I opt for something like [a] Rouge Coco in 'Peregrina' (78) - a beautiful peach, or [b] Chanel Rouge Coco in 'Mademoiselle' (05) - which is an earthy, rose shade. For the cheeks, I like to wear the soft, peachy pink Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Initiale' (72) [c]. Le Blush Crème de Chanel in 'Revelation' (a warmer peach pink) is also a nice alternative in cream form (not pictured, but is reviewed here). Swatches below.
For an eye look that combines that stunning, iridescent green, I opt for peaches and oranges if you have light tanned to darker skin for lips:
[a]Topshop Lipstick in 'Infrared' for the ultimate daring, bold look. Especially gorgeous on dark skin tones.
[b] Chanel Rouge Coco in 'Peregrina' (78). Works for all looks using this palette!
[c] Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 'Flirt' (69) - a pretty, sheer, light, coral-pink.
[d] Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in 'Crystal Coral' (311) - sheer but buildable, medium to dark coral.
For cheeks, my favourite is Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Frivole' (76) - a medium orange with the slightest hint of pink. Delicious! :)
If you have fair skin, nude, neutral lips and cheeks will do just beautifully if you're so inclined.
Overall
I'm very happy with the new eye shadow formula. I'm sure you will be, too. And the fact that my favourite shades from Ombres Perlées de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette are now in a couple of the new quads and are here to stay makes me squeal with excitement. ^_^
Hope this was useful. :)
Thanks for looking. ^_^ xo
